The Mysterious Island

    ☀︎

In the early 1970s, actor Omar Sharif set his suitcases on the island of Lanzarote to shoot the TV movie " The Mysterious Island and Captain Nemo ". There, he fell under the spell of villa Lagomar . He bought this house located in the middle of the remains of volcanic lava, only to bet it and lose it during a game of bridge, a few hours later.

Inspired by Lagomar, this TV movie, and volcanic landscapes, this collection is an invitation to travel .

The mysterious island is also inspired by the story of Jacques Massacrier, a Parisian who left everything in the early 70s to live independently on an island in the Balearic Islands with his family, far from the consumer society. A return to basics , a desire to live simply by learning to make everything by hands and by perpetuating ancestral and artisanal know-how .

It is inspired by these stories that I imagined the new VACANCIER collection. Knitted and crocheted pieces in noble and natural materials , refined colors, brown, beige and blue shades. I wanted to put even more emphasis on craftsmanship and manual production. From this desire was born the Caravelle dress, entirely crocheted by hand, which goes very well with the Lucy sweater, from the Le Temps des Fleurs collection and reissued for this winter. The Jude dress also came back, a way for me to affirm even more the approach of VACANCIER : comfy knitwear that we take everywhere, that go with everything and that we cherish for life, season after season . Once again, all the pieces are made by hand and by machine, under the Parisian sun. 🤙🏻

As with Le Temps des Fleurs , there is also a jacket in the collection. It is the little sister of the ABBEY jacket, its winter version, the AZORES jacket . It's a jacket in a patchwork of fabrics: end-of-stock velvets from several workshops and a fabric with celestial prints from old curtains . Still in this short circuit approach, the jacket is produced at the gates of Paris (at exactly 7 metro stations from my home ;))

The pieces of this collection are available in stock and on pre-order according to sizes and models. For a small brand like VACANCIER , it avoids having too much stock to manage, and it's kinder for the planet because only the necessary quantities are made, there is no overproduction. On each product sheet the availability is specified: in stock , the piece is dispatched within 48 hours ; when there is a manufacturing delay , it means that your piece has to be knitted/crocheted, and it then takes about 2 to 3 weeks between placing your order and shipping it :). Another advantage of made-to-order is that it fits everyone : if none of the sizes fit you, the made-to-measure option is also available :)

That's it, you know everything, now I leave you with these new pieces, which I hope you will like as much as I had fun imagining and creating them ☀︎
